Lexington Legends catcher Cam Gallagher suffered a broken left hand when hit by a pitch in the first inning of Wednesday night’s game in Asheville. Gallagher was batting .268 with five runs batted in in 16 games. He had thrown out 11 of 23 would-be base stealers, the third best percentage in the South Atlantic League.
Gallagher is the second Legends’ regular to be lost for an extended period after being hit by a pitch. First baseman Mark Threlkeld suffered a broken left forearm April 5 when he was hit by a pitch during his first at bat of the season.
Roster changes for the Lexington Legends 4/25/13:
Catcher Cam Gallagher is placed on the disabled list.
Catcher Alex Marquez is activated from the disabled list.
RHP Daniel Hernandez transfers from Wilmington (Carolina League) to Lexington.
