Somerset football and basketball standout Tyson Williams has signed his letter of intent and thereby committed to spending his college career playing football for Eastern Kentucky University.

Williams, at 6’4 and 255 lbs had 13 catches for 150 yards, 1 TD, and 106 tackles in his senior year at Somerset. It was his only season with the Briar Jumpers.

“I’m happy to have been part of such a storied program in my senior year of football,” Williams said. “Coach Lucas and his staff do a great job getting us ready to play, and I believe it helped my game tremendously.  The SHS athletic program has been great, and I’ve really enjoyed winning on a high level in both football and basketball.”

He is excited about play on the next level.

“I look forward to moving on with my football career and focusing all my energy into the weight room and the football field,” he continued. “I’ll get the opportunity to play with Tevin (Slaughter, also from SHS)  on the offensive side of the football solely, which will be fun.

“EKU is a great fit with a great coaching staff, I can’t wait to get on campus and get going.”
