For six innings, the Somerset Post 38 Twins never trailed.
However, that would all change in the top of the seventh inning, thanks to a three-run home run from Boone Saylor.
With Saylor’s blast, the visiting Danville Mus-tangs overcame a 4-0 deficit to down the Twins by a final of 5-4 on Tuesday night at Southwestern High School’s Warrior Stadium.
Leading 4-1 heading into the top of the seventh and final inning, things were looking good for the homestanding Twins club. After a four-inning in the seventh frame, that would not be the case for Somerset.
Danville cut the lead to 4-2 after a runner scored on an error. A monster blast from B. Saylor would change the game, as his home run flew straight over the center field wall, giving the Mustangs a 5-4 advantage, which would also be the final score, as Somerset would fail to score in the bottom half of the inning.
The Mustangs finished with only three hits, compared to the Twins’ 11 hits. B. Saylor, who delivered the big hit in the seventh inning, finished the contest with three RBI’s. On the mound, B. Saylor picked up the save.
Charlie Dishman had a stellar game for Somerset, both at the dish and the on the hill. Batting-wise, Dishman finished with three hits, which included two doubles. Dishman, who started the game for the Twins on the mound, pitched five hitless innings of baseball and had three strikeouts.
J.P. Henderlight was saddled with the loss for the Twins. Henderlight, who pitched the final two innings, had three strikeouts.
Jacob Pelston finished the contest with two hits, which included a big three-run double in the fourth inning, which allowed Kellan Jones (fielder’s choice), Jacob Denney (hit-by-pitch), and Storm Wilson (error) to score, putting the Twins out front, 3-0.
An RBI single from Jones in the bottom of fifth inning allowed the Twins to take a 4-0 advantage over Danville.
