Tune in weekday afternoons from 3pm to 7pm for The ROD BUBBA Show! A few laughs and a dinner bucket full of great Country Music!
Enjoy the ride home from school or work by listening to K93! I promise you two things...the best country music and fun! If it is happening in Somerset and around the Lake Cumberland area...I will be talking about it. You just never know who may be dropping in on us during The ROD BUBBA Show!
I got my radio license October 2, 1981 and became the chief announcer for WSCC FM in Somerset. I worked for a couple years at WDMC FM in Richmond. I began my radio career at WSEK back in September 1985. Back then, WSEK was 96 Power Country. It later changed to 97 Power Country... years later... 97 Power Country became Power Country K93..... 93.9FM. With my broadcasting degree from Eastern Kentucky University folded and stored in an old Merle Haggard album, I had three options...get a job in radio, become a poodle groomer or draw a crazy check. Radio was a bit more fun than grooming poodles and to earn a crazy check was more honorable than "drawing" one so the journey began...and so it goes...

...it would have been the same answer you would get now if you asked me...a DJ! Now as I enter my 32nd year as a licensed radio announcer and my 28th year here at K93...I pause to think back on all the wonderful times I have had and memories I have made along my journey. I have worked with the best in the business. True professionals. I have been places I would have never gone otherwise. I have met and interviewed music stars and celebrities that when I try to list them all...I get a little weak in the knees. So many changes...like going from reel to reel tape, carts and records to a flashdrive. Through all of the changes...I have never dreaded coming to work and Mondays are my favorite because it means I have a new week ahead of me to play radio. I don't take it for granted. I am the luckiest guy in the world because I got and get to do exactly what I always wanted to do. Maybe not lucky...perhaps blessed. A great man once told someone, "What Rod lacks in ability...he makes up for in enthusiasm." I own that and wear it proudly! Here is to 32 more years!
