Tune in weekday afternoons from 3pm to 7pm for The ROD BUBBA Show! A few laughs and a dinner bucket full of great Country Music!
Enjoy the ride home from school or work by listening to K93! I promise you two things...the best country music and fun! If it is happening in Somerset and around the Lake Cumberland area...I will be talking about it. You just never know who may be dropping in on us during The ROD BUBBA Show!
I got my radio license October 2, 1981 and became the chief announcer for WSCC FM in Somerset. I worked for a couple years at WDMC FM in Richmond. I began my radio career at WSEK back in September 1985. Back then, WSEK was 96 Power Country. It later changed to 97 Power Country... years later... 97 Power Country became Power Country K93..... 93.9FM. With my broadcasting degree from Eastern Kentucky University folded and stored in an old Merle Haggard album, I had three options...get a job in radio, become a poodle groomer or draw a crazy check. Radio was a bit more fun than grooming poodles and to earn a crazy check was more honorable than "drawing" one so the journey began...and so it goes...

My first job at age 12 was being a janitor. I cleaned these offices for $5 a week. Big bucks for a 7th grader. I wrecked a friend's orange 10 speed bike...hit a telephone pole and drove the forks back...bent the frame...destroyed the wheel. I needed money to replace his bike...so...I started cleaning offices. I replaced the bike with a nice white 10 speed from Western Auto...the color didn't seem to matter to my friend...and I decided that I would keep working. I went from being a janitor to mowing yards...baby sitting...delivering furniture...working at JCPenney...working at Photo Bug...driving cars for a local used car dealer...to my dream job...working here! I have been blessed to have never been fired and always done better for myself...and now for my family. It has been a wonderful journey and I am looking forward to seeing what they decide to do with the old building I use to clean!
