Tune in weekday afternoons from 3pm to 7pm for The ROD BUBBA Show! A few laughs and a dinner bucket full of great Country Music!
Enjoy the ride home from school or work by listening to K93! I promise you two things...the best country music and fun! If it is happening in Somerset and around the Lake Cumberland area...I will be talking about it. You just never know who may be dropping in on us during The ROD BUBBA Show!
I got my radio license October 2, 1981 and became the chief announcer for WSCC FM in Somerset. I worked for a couple years at WDMC FM in Richmond. I began my radio career at WSEK back in September 1985. Back then, WSEK was 96 Power Country. It later changed to 97 Power Country... years later... 97 Power Country became Power Country K93..... 93.9FM. With my broadcasting degree from Eastern Kentucky University folded and stored in an old Merle Haggard album, I had three options...get a job in radio, become a poodle groomer or draw a crazy check. Radio was a bit more fun than grooming poodles and to earn a crazy check was more honorable than "drawing" one so the journey began...and so it goes...

...especially at Christmas time. I get nervous, anxious, twitchy...I begin sweating and begin trying to locate all exits. Yesterday I was getting things out of layaway at Walmart. You pay the lady and she hands you a wad of receipts then directs you down past the fish tanks to pick up the merch. I have the cart with the front wheel that looks like it is shaking it's head no no no no no no and the opposite rear wheel that has a sweater's worth of yarn wrapped around it making it terribly difficult to roll and the sound can't be blamed on an invisible dog. Then...the wait. I watch without trying to make eye contact of the shoppers in the egg and cheese isle doing their mental calculations of the best bargain. Then...finally...a lady bursts through the doors and says, "Jacqueline Zimmerman" to which I try to restart my crippled cart rolling in her direction as the guy behind me snickers saying Jacqueline under his breath. I now try to make my escape/exit. Like level 3 of Mario Cart...I race my happy butt out toward the door. I show my wadded, sweat-drenched receipt to the lady at the front door...she says something pleasant and I just smile that "I just escaped from Eastern State"psychotic, boyish grin....and out the door, 7 cars down row 4 south end, pop the trunk, dump the cart, shove it toward what appears to be a Walmart employee, start the car...hit the gas...and realize my cell phone is still in the cart. Breaks work...gifts now in front seat and all over the trunk. Phone? Check! Seat belt? Check! Home...I'm on my way! I love this time of year...I also like ringworm.
I was completely convinced that today was Tuesday right up to around 6am. I lost Monday. I can't tell you anything about it. The good thing about losing a day is I am one day closer to the weekend than I thought I was. It just makes me wonder how many days I have lost all together. Something to ponder.
Today...Jeff and I gathered up gifts for Operation Angel Care. One thing I can say about Pulaski Countians...they care. We thank you so much for your kind hearts and generosity!
I am really getting excited about Christmas this year! Some Christmas' come and go but this one is feeling really special! I am thankful and I am blessed!
Just got an email from The Bobby Bones Show...
(Note: NO SHOW
DELIVERED ON CHRISTMAS DAY 12/25. PLEASE SCHEDULE THAT MORNING LOCALLY.)
So...if it is OK with you, the K93 listener...for Christmas morning...may I bring back The Rod Bubba Morning Show?
I can't think of a thing I want for Christmas. I can't think of a thing I need for Christmas.
I think that adds up to "blessed".
...3pm to 7pm for The Ride Home!
I was counting my lunch money for today and right in the middle of all my dimes and nickels ... what should appear but ... a 1902 penny! That one cent is now worth $1.75 on ebay! Cha flippin' ching, baby!
