I have spent many hours on Ancestry.com. I have learned that my family made the trip down to Kentucky with Daniel Boone, fought in the Revolutionary War, combined our European blood with that of the Cherokee, farmed the land, traded land and basically were a hard working, simple people. I found actual documents signed by my elders from the 1600s. The census reports were interesting. I was pleased to find out that my people could read AND write. Photos of people I never would have known about. Pictured above is my Great Great Grandfather, James Mitchell. I'm glad I did some searching. I feel a part of something a little bit bigger than I did a few days ago.
